Author I draw inspiration from:
I’ve always been drawn to authors who make the act of reading feel like an invitation to play. I grew up loving Eric Carle—his books are so warm and full of texture, and they always made me feel like the pictures were just as alive as the words. I also adore Mo Willems for the way he manages to make a single page turn feel like a punchline, and Jon Klassen for his dry humor and those deliciously subtle visual jokes. "I Want My Hat Back" makes me laugh, even as an adult.

Favorite place to read a book:
In a sunbeam on the couch with my dog curled up next to me and a really good smelling candle lit nearby.
Book character I’d like to be stuck in an elevator with:
I think I’d pick Max from Where the Wild Things Are. He’s mischievous, a little wild, but also clever and curious—basically the perfect companion if you’re stuck somewhere small. I feel like we’d end up having a mini adventure in that elevator, and somehow leave it feeling like a tiny kingdom instead of a waiting room.

The moment I knew I wanted to become an author:
I’ve always loved art, reading, and creating my own stories ever since elementary school, so I guess it was inevitable that I’d end up combining them all someday. The moment I really knew I wanted to be an author was when I realized that making up stories—and then bringing them to life with pictures—wasn’t just fun for me, it was something I couldn’t not do. It felt like discovering a little magic that I got to share with other people.
Hardback, paperback, ebook or audiobook:
I love hardbacks for the feeling of holding something substantial and beautifully made. Paperbacks are cozy and portable, perfect for reading anywhere without worrying about breaking the spine. Ebooks are super convenient, but I do miss that tactile connection to the pages. Audiobooks are fun too—they let me “read” while doing other things—but sometimes I get distracted and miss parts of the story.
The last book I read:
Currently in the middle of "The God of the Woods" by Liz Moore and I'm hooked!

Pen & paper or computer:
Definitely a computer for me. I love the speed and flexibility it gives—ideas can flow, get rearranged, or rewritten without making a mess of the page. I do sometimes jot tiny notes or doodles on paper for inspiration, but when it comes to the actual writing, the keyboard is where the magic happens. It’s where I can experiment and edit on the fly.
Book character I think I’d be best friends with:
I think I’d be best friends with Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. She’s quirky, imaginative, and sees the world in such a unique way—someone who makes ordinary moments feel magical. I feel like we’d get along because she’d encourage my weird ideas, I’d appreciate her honesty, and together we’d probably spend hours laughing at things most people don’t notice.

If I weren’t an author, I’d be a:
Luckily I'm also an illustrator, so I'd probably stick to drawing!
Favorite decade in fashion history:
I grew up in the 90's and early 00's, so I have to go with that for the nostalgia factor alone.
Place I’d most like to travel:
Seeing the northern lights from somewhere like Norway has been on my bucket list forever! New Zealand is up there too, mostly because of Lord of the Rings.
My signature drink:
I’d say my signature drink is a matcha latte—warm, a little comforting, and packed with enough energy to keep me going through long days. If we’re talking alcoholic, then a classic vodka soda feels just right—simple, refreshing, and a little bubbly.
Favorite artist:
Honestly, it’s impossible to pick just one. I’m inspired by so many artists in so many different ways—some for their colors, some for their storytelling, some for their sheer inventiveness. I love discovering work that makes me stop and think, laugh, or feel something unexpected, and those moments come from all kinds of creative people, not just one.
Number one on my bucket list:
It was writing and illustrating my own children's book series, but that dream has come true! I need a new number one, if you have suggestions let me know.
Anything else you'd like to add:
Just that I think caregivers and their littles would love the Can You Do This? series, and I'm so excited to release the Bedtime Edition! It's a slight departure in tone from the first two (it's more calm and relaxation focused), but I think that makes it really special.
